Two Chinese J-10 fighter jets flew within 100 feet of a U.S. Navy P-3 surveillance plane approximately 150 miles southeast of Hong Kong in international airspace this week, ABC News reported citing US officials on Friday. One of the Chinese jets flew out in front of the Navy plane before conducting a series of slow turns which the American crew considered unsafe, the official added. According to an anonymous official cited by Bloomberg, the U.S. Navy sent the destroyer USS Stethem within 12 nautical miles (22 kilometers) of Triton Island on Sunday, passing through the contested waters on the basis of "innocent passage." It was the second such operation conducted by the US during Donald Trump’s presidency. Two Chinese J-10 fighter jets flew within 100 feet of a U.S. Navy P-3 surveillance plane approximately 150 miles southeast of Hong Kong in international airspace this week, ABC News reported citing US officials on Friday. The official said the Chinese fighter jets were “unsafe” in their actions toward the U.S. reconnaissance plane Wednesday. One of the Chinese jets flew out in front of the Navy plane before conducting a series of slow turns which the American crew considered unsafe, the official added. Describing why cutting off another plane at high speeds in the air is dangerous, the official said, “You don’t know what the other person is doing.” The close call unfolded before a U.S. Navy destroyer sailed near a contested island in the South China Sea early Thursday, according to the official. Back in February, a Chinese early warning aircraft and U.S. Navy patrol plane had what the U.S. called an "unsafe" encounter over the South China Sea. Each of these close calls unfolded in international airspace. Such incidents have occurred occasionally over and within the South China Sea, which China claims virtually in its entirety. On Thursday, China's defense ministry accused Washington of militarizing the South China Sea region, following the sailing of an US Navy destroyer near the disputed Spratly Islands chain. The USS Dewey sailed within 20 kilometers (12 miles) of Mischief Reef in the Spratly archipelago. Chinese frigates tracked the destroyer and issued a warning, urging the vessel to leave the area, according to media reports. China and several US allies in the region — namely Japan, Vietnam and the Philippines — have competing claims to the maritime borders and responsibility areas in the South China and East China seas. Here are 20 People Who Own Private Islands. Would you spend your money on a private island? What would you put on it?! Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr 10. Louis Bacon No, there is no relation to Kevin Bacon. Bacon is a billionaire and has more money than he knows what to do with so he went and bought 445 acres of land. He paid $11 million for Robins Island that’s located just near the coast of New York. For that kind of money, you could buy like a whole lot of McDonald’s. 9. Mel Gibson The actor and director is most notably known for his role in Braveheart and his anti-semitic views. In 2005, the man purchased an island located in Fiji called Mago Island. He bought it off of Tokyo Corporation for the sum of $15 million. Oh, and turns out there are natives who live on the island that have voiced their distaste of him purchasing it. 8. Eddie Murphy Everybody is always wondering “where is Eddie Murphy? Did he die?” No, he’s most likely spending time on his private island like any other rich celebrity with a private island would do. Murphy bought his island back in 2007 for the measly price of $15 million. Before he bought Rooster Cay, he actually owned another island named Pearl Island. 7. Shakira And Roger Waters So latin superstar Shakira and Roger Waters, the guy from Pink Floyd, apparently bought an island together...yeah, that’s a weird duo. Anyways, the two purchased Bonds Cay island that is, surprise, located in the Bahamas. They paid $16 million in total and we’re said to be planning to build a retreat for other celebrities. No word on that yet. 6. Angelina Jolie By now we’ve all heard the tragic news that power couple “Brangelina” has called it quits and are deciding to go their separate ways. They had some good times. Like when Angelina purchased Petra island in New York for Brad’s 50th birthday. She spent $20 million for the island shaped like a heart. Girl, hopefully, you kept the receipt. 5. Mystery Island Look at this quaint little log cabin house just perfectly hidden inside this mini forest on a tiny island. We don’t know who the mysterious owner of this place is or where it’s even located but we can obviously guess take a wild guess through deductive reasoning that this person is loaded. For crying out loud, they have their own plane. 4. Celine Dion Celine Dion is known for her power ballads and of course who could forget the iconic Titanic theme song that just brings you to tears. But did you know that the Canadian superstar has her own private island? Well, you do now. That’s right, she shelled out a mind-numbing $29.7 million on an island called Ile Gagnon in Quebec. 3. David Copperfield The famous magician has actually owned 4 islands in the Bahamas. His private resort is the Musha Cay island where many celebrities go to vacation. Copperfield spent a whopping $50 million in total for all these islands. If you want to stay here, you’re wallet better packing because it’s at least $39,000 a day and you have to stay for up to four nights. 2. Roman Abramovich This Russian billionaire bought this island in St. Barts and renamed it Abrahamovich Island. That’s not egotistical at all. Apparently, he bought the island for a reported $90 million dollars. The island comes equipped with 70 acres, tennis courts, and swimming pools. Who needs swimming pools. You’re surrounded by water. 1. Larry Ellison He’s super rich. And by super rich we mean that he was labeled as the third wealthiest person in America and the fifth wealthiest in all the world by Forbes magazine in 2014. He purchased Lanai, the sixth largest island in Hawaii in 2012. An actual price was never stated but Forbes says it could be between $500 to $600 million.

SOUTH CHINA SEAA U.S. Navy warship sailed through the South China Sea this week, prompting yet another angry response from China, which claims almost the entire region as its own. Disputed islands in the South China Sea are claimed by at least six countries: the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia, Taiwan, and China. According to a report compiled for the U.S. Congress, China has undertaken large-scale land reclamation in the area since 2013, creating seven artificial islands in two years. The Wall Street Journal reports that on Tuesday, missile destroyer USS William P. Lawrence traveled within 12 nautical miles of Chinese-occupied Fiery Cross Reef. Fiery Cross is a 700-acre man-made island with a 10,000-foot military runway, deepwater port, and other military facilities. Given its extensive infrastructure, it is presumed to be the future hub of Chinese military operations in the South China Sea. The U.S. has said the operation was conducted to exercise freedom of navigation rights in the area, which are reportedly being restricted by excessive claims in the region. Fiery Cross Reef is claimed by China, Taiwan, Vietnam and the Philippines. Except for the Philippines, the rest of the claimants all require prior notice for transit rights within the 12-mile zone, according to the New York Times. China responded to the U.S. destroyer’s passage by mobilizing two fighter jets and three warships to shadow the vessel, reports Reuters. The demonstration comes ahead of a United Nations ruling on whether Beijing has maritime rights around reefs and atolls in the South China Sea. ------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets. This is simply the coolest beach in the world. Maho Beach sits directly adjacent to Princess Juliana International Airport, one of the smallest international airports in the world. Experience the jet forces of a 747 Jumbo Jet taking off just 50 metres away from you, and the sight of an Airbus landing just a few metres above the beach. Watch people and their bags being blown across the beach and into the sea...you can't experience this anywhere else in the world. Just amazing! Just days before Trump's meeting with the Chinese president in Hamburg later this week for the G-20 summit, the Trump administration sent a guided-missile destroyer near Triton Island in the South China Sea, Bloomberg reported, a move "which may cause concern ahead of President Donald Trump’s meeting with his Chinese counterpart." According to an anonymous official cited by Bloomberg, the U.S. Navy sent the destroyer USS Stethem within 12 nautical miles (22 kilometers) of Triton Island on Sunday, passing through the contested waters on the basis of "innocent passage." It was the second such operation conducted by the US during Donald Trump’s presidency. On May 24, the US Navy guided-missile destroyer, the USS Dewey, came within 12 miles of the Mischief Reef in the Spratly Islands, another disputed archipelago that lies in the southern part of the South China Sea. At that time, the Chinese Defense Ministry also sent two frigates to “warn off” the US vessel and said that it was “firmly opposed to the US behavior of showing force and boosting regional militarization.” Credits: 1. 중국 남중국해 인공섬 첫 비행 성공 The Philippines has rejected China′s test flights to one of its man-made islands in the South China Sea. Bruce Harrison joins me now in the studio. Bruce, despite widespread concern and criticism in the region, China continues to fortify its presence in the contested waters. Hello Daniel. China doesn′t really seem to be concerned about other countries territorial claims in the South China Sea. Beijing is claiming a massive swath of territory that contains major shipping lanes... and reinforcing its presence by building islands... it claims are largely for civilian use. Just yesterday, China landed two commercial jets on Fiery Cross Reef... to see if the runway on the reclaimed island is up to standard. The reef is in territory claimed by the PhilippinesTaiwan and Vietnam. Philppine Foreign Secretary Alberto del Rosario said if China′s expansion is not challenged... it could impose an air defense identifcation zone in the territory. British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond visited the Philppines this week and said all parties should respect international law. ″Freedom of navigation and overflight are non-negotiable. They are red lines for us, we will maintain the position that we as an international maritime and trading nation enjoy freedom of navigation and overflight in the South China Sea.″ Hammond also said Britain doesn′t take sides in the disuptes... and urged countries in the region to exercise restraint. Analysts say the runways would be long enough to handle long-range bombers and transport aircraft as well as Chinese fighter jets. The development would give China deep presense in the maritime heart of Southeast Asia for the first time.
